  2. Did it help you turn what God has said into a plan of action?

  3. Please use the questions at the end of the notes below.

REPENT

This IS about creating a context to think differently.  This is a moment where we deliberately and intentionally engage with God so we can ‘repent’ = change the way we think about something and move increasingly towards being radical disciples.

The following are three steps of repentance.

 1. Observe:

To change our lives, we need to observe. This means taking note of our reactions, emotions and thoughts.

2. Reflect:

This means taking time to ask ourselves why we react, think or feel a certain way.  The more honest we are with our answers the better.

3. Discuss:

Change is a community thing! Discussing these observations and reflections with friend or a group of trusted friends is important. It can be hard to share your thoughts and struggles with someone else but authenticity is a powerful weapon in leading us into freedom.

BELIEVE

It is too easy to hear from God and not do anything with it.

Transformed thinking leads to transformed behaviour.  These are some steps that follow on from REPENTANCE that position us for lasting change.

1.  PLAN

After reflecting and discussing, the next step is to plan. What is God asking me to do differently?

What changes in priorities, behaviour or thinking need to be made?

Pray and ask for the Holy Spirit’s help with this so you can know what needs to be done to put the KoG first and reflect the Father to those around you more effectively.

This could range from who will I marry, to deciding to exercise more.

2. ACCOUNT:

Community/Family is integral to making change.  You need other people.  We are better together!

If your plan is going to succeed, there needs to be at least one person holding you accountable. Ask someone to pray with you and keep them up to date with how you're doing. Accountability means to ‘account-for-your-ability’.

3. ACTION:

Once a plan has been established and you have told other people, naturally the next step is to do something.  Real faith always surfaces as obedient action. Thoughts and intentions that remain within the mind are not the same as obedience.
