Strength & Balance is suitable for you if you feel that your mobility is compromised due to a lack of strength or balance. We start with a warmup and then work on improving your endurance, strength and balance for daily living. We work on how to get down on the floor and how to get back up off the floor ... a life skill as we age. We finish the session with some cooldown time and stretches to improve posture.
Who’s it for?
Our sessions are open to anyone aged 16+ but Strength & Balance is particularly suitable for you if you feel that your mobility is compromised.
You don’t have to be part of GodFirst - and if you enjoy the sessions then we'd love you to invite your friends and family.
What do I need to bring?
You should wear clothes that give you freedom to exercise, including suitable footwear. Also bring a bottle of water and any medication that you need.
All exercise equipment is provided by us.
Do I need to book?
Yes - this is important. Numbers are limited in order to keep everyone safe so please book early.
Booking in also allows us to plan the activities and set up the right equipment for the number of people who are coming. If possible, please book at least 24 hours in advance.
The first time you book you’ll be asked to complete a ‘Readiness Questionnaire’ but you only need to complete that again if your health changes.
Where?
All sessions are held at GodFirst Church, The Runway, Airfield Road, Christchurch, BH23 3TG.
When?
Strength & Balance runs every Thursday morning from 12:00 midday to 1:00pm.
We will always start on time so please aim to arrive at least 5 minutes early so that you’re ready to start with us.
How much does it cost?
We don’t allow anyone to pay for their first session.
After your first session, and if you can afford it, we suggest a donation to our costs of £2 per session. This is genuinely optional and we don’t track who pays. You can contribute by cash or use contactless payment.
Funds are used to cover the cost of room hire, heating / air conditioning costs and for equipment. Any extra funds are passed on to GodFirst to support the work of the church. The Thrive team all give their time voluntarily
