In heaven our greatest blessing will be to find ourselves transformed into the likeness of Jesus (Php. 3:21; 1 John 3:2) and to enjoy eternal, intimate fellowship with our beloved Saviour and Lord. What will heaven be like?
It will not simply be a spiritual existence. We will have bodies, and there will be, to a certain extent, the continuation of the life we already know, but at another level and in a different dimension beyond our wildest dreams (Rom 8:19-25).
We will inhabit a new creation with a new heaven and a new earth (Rev. 21:1; Mt. 24:35; 2 Pet. 3:7, 10-13).
It will be a social life. We will be united with all members of God's family to live in harmony, peace and love (Heb 11:10, Rev. 19:7).
It will be an ordered life. We will have responsibilities and serve the Lord (Luke 19:11-26; 1 Cor. 6:2-3).
God will be at the centre of our lives and we will live in his presence (Rev. 22:3-5).
We will experience abundant, perfect, eternal life (Mt. 25:34; Rev. 21: 4). Our relationships with God, and with his people, will be totally harmonious.
It will be endless life (Rev. 22:5) beyond anything our minds could conceive. "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" (1 Cor. 2:9).
