Bible Story.  Genesis 17 God promises Abram children

Main Teaching Point(s)

God revealed his nature to Abram (Abraham) he revealed he was mighty so that Abram would know he could make his descendants like the stars – wow!

One of God’s names is Mighty/Almighty.  He is stronger and more powerful that anything else.  He is able to do amazing miracles so that Abram and Sarah could have children even though they are very old.

What mighty things would you like him to do in your life?

Teaching

Watch Sam’s Video for this morning

Worship

Daniel and Natalie Harden sing – My God is so big! – see God is our fortress week for the video.

Way Maker – Sit or lie down and listen to this song let the words sink into your heart and ask God for a mighty miracle in your life or someone you know.

Explore Deeper

As well as the bit on Abraham in Genesis 17 – you might like to look up some more verses.

Psalm 46 describes God as almighty and as a fortress if you remember from a few weeks ago.

Psalm 84 is another fabulous Psalm!

Revelation 1 v8

Activity

Make a timeline of the major events in Abraham’s life – there are some mentioned in Hebrews 11 if you want some pointers.

Activity

As a family, what is the heaviest thing each of you can pick up? It will be different for each one of you! (Don’t hurt yourself though!)

Try doing this everyday this week and see if you get stronger as the week goes on. So, if you can lift up 5 big books, by the end of the week can you lift up 6 big books?!

God wants us to grow stronger with Him too all the time.

Activity

Like Sam did in the video today make and colour a star and write a miracle on it that you want the Almighty El Shaddai God to do.  Pray for the miracle everyday if you can.
